Game Code School

About

I've spent four decades turning the daunting business of writing code into something a complete beginner can actually enjoy. I'm the author of several hands-on game-programming books — including the bestselling Beginning C++ Game Programming and Android Programming for Beginners — and the founder of Game Code School, where I've been teaching people to build games since 2014.

My approach is simple and stubborn: you learn to program by making real games, not by memorising theory. Every idea turns up exactly when a game needs it, and you get to watch it run. From a first bouncing ball to complete C++ and Android titles — arcade games, a zombie survival shooter, an endless runner, classic roguelikes — my books take readers who have never written a single line of code and leave them able to design and build games of their own.

If you learn best by making something you can actually play, you'll be right at home.

Where to start

Everything here is written to be read and used. If it helps you make something you're proud of, that's the whole point.
